“It sets a 12-year term limit. No one can serve in the county legislature for more than 12 years. The current term of office is now two years for a county legislator; it would now go to 4 years.

Czarny says that if the proposition is approved, it will go into effect in 2026.

“Next year we will have county legislature elections, but depending on what the voters choose, they’ll serve to 2028 or 2030, depending on what comes out of this election,” he said.
