“For the last 25 years of my life I have been a servant of two masters, elections and theater,’’ Czarny wrote. “For most of that time I have been able to do both, mainly through a lack of sleep and the ignorance of not knowing my limits.”
In addition to his job as a county elections commissioner, Czarny is the Democratic caucus chair for the New York State Elections Commissioner Association. He said he routinely works 50-60 hours a week on implementing recently authorized reforms to the elections system.
“Six months ago I made the decision that it was time to make a choice,” Czarny wrote on Facebook. “I will have to let theater go.’’
