Czarny said to expect the trend to continue as Republicans grow older.

“They’re aging out,” he said. “The Republicans are not replacing their older electorate with younger voters and people are moving or passing on.”

I did a break down with the age groups to buttress my statement above and show the disparity in age groups.

  1. This data may not be enough to tell. I remember the phrase “today’s radical is tomorrow’s conservative.” I think you’d have to compare percentages of age groups over time. We may find people just tilt to the conservative side as they age.

    1. That may be true in some cases but the long term trends don’t seem to bear that out on the surface. Since 1996 the county has flipped enrollment. My last wonky wednesday on Onondaga county enrollment in january of 2021 dhows that continuing.

      I will be doing another update for onondaga county in february. I may look into age categories over time if i can get reliable data from the past.
