“My feeling is that we should be counting the votes and giving Onondaga County clarity of who won these races so I hope that when Thursday comes we won’t get another delay,” Czarny says.
“I’m always concerned about conspiracies, because at the end of the day, they tend to act in a way that’s oppressive…People don’t think their vote counts, and so they decide not to vote, and that’s really what their (conspiracies) intended to do.”
The Onondaga County Board of Elections has worked diligently to send out information through mail and social media to inform county residents about voting this year, said Dustin Czarny….“We’ve done pretty much everything we can do at this point”
“I have no doubts about our accuracy here at the board and I feel like most people don’t either,” said Czarny.
Dustin Czarny, Onondaga County’s Democratic elections commissioner, said he is confident the court order will not affect the board’s ability to finish counting by Nov. 28, the deadline for counties to send vote totals to the state.
“We’ve delayed the starting of the canvass by one day, to Tuesday, to give everybody an opportunity to review whatever they looked at and come up with whatever they need,” Czarny said. “To be quite honest, what they requested was so broad and undefined, I’m not really sure what they were looking for, any more than just a delay in the process altogether. We were very adamant that we do not want a delay. The judge was very adamant that nobody should delay. Everybody wants to get these counts in so we know who the winners of our races are.”
Dustin Czarny, commissioner of the Onondaga County Board of Elections, said via Twitter that he’s glad the board of elections was able to reach an agreement that would prevent a significant delay in processing the mail-in ballots. The specifics of the agreement referenced in Czarny’s tweet are currently unclear.
“I feel confident we will start the absentee count on Tuesday and finish in a short amount of time,” Czarny said.

“I believe all ballots should be counted no matter the race,” said Democratic Commissioner Czarny. “If they are legally casted absentee ballots, county and state election boards are obligated to count them and have them as part of their final tallies.”
Absentee ballots will likely be the deciding factor in the race for New York’s 53rd and 50th Senate Districts and 127th Assembly District, Dustin Czarny, Democratic commissioner of the county’s board of elections, announced via Twitter on Tuesday night.
